Specializing in Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
Bonnie offers evidence-based assessment, treatment, education and consultative services to families, school districts, Speech-Language Pathologists and other professionals supporting children with complex speech sound disorders. She specializes in working with children suspected of having or diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder. Children with CAS have great difficulty planning, producing and sequencing the precise, specific movements necessary for intelligible speech. They often do not respond to traditional forms of speech therapy and require more advanced and individualized interventions to make progress.
Bonnie helps parents understand their child’s communication challenges and what they can do to help. She uses evidenced based strategies and works closely with parents and other professionals to maximize outcomes. Her play-based approach makes learning fun and motivates her young clients to engage in the practice needed to improve their speech skills.
